What kid doesn’t love dinosaurs?! This dinosaur sensory bin combines kids’ favorite animal with hands-on sensory play. We recently made this dino sensory bin and the kids were playing with it forever – I’m talking over an hour! This sensory bin allows for creative pretend play, which lasts long after you add the dinos.

This dinosaur sensory bin is set in a pool scene, equipped with pool floaties (cut pool noodles), toy dinos, and mini umbrellas. It’s an easy and budget-friendly sensory bin that kids will love. It’s perfect for hands-on activities and sensory play and will help kids build fine motor skills!

What You’ll Need For This Dinosaur Sensory Bin

  • Water
  • Blue food coloring
  • Pool noodle
  • Knife (adult use only)
  • Small toy dinosaurs
  • Drink umbrellas

How To Make A Dinosaur Sensory Bin

1. Fill the bin
Add water to a bin, leaving space at the top to avoid spills.

2. Make it bright blue
Add a few drops of blue food coloring and stir until you get a vibrant “pool” effect.

3. Create floating islands
Carefully cut the pool noodle into thick slices (about 1–2 inches wide). These will float on the water like mini rafts.

4. Add the dinosaurs
Place one toy dinosaur on top of each pool noodle slice.

Stick a drink umbrella into each noodle slice to give the dinos a fun “poolside” vibe.

How Kids Play With This Dinosaur Sensory Bin

Playing with the dinosaur sensory bin is the best part! Kids can play any way they’d like, but here are a few suggestions that my kids loved:

    • Splash and make waves to see how the dinos move and wobble
    • Create stories like a dino beach day, pool party, or rescue mission
