This cardboard rainbow streamer craft is an easy summer craft for kids. Use cardboard, paint, and streamers to create a bright and beautiful rainbow that’s the perfect decor for windows and walls!

This rainbow streamer craft is perfect if you’re looking for a recycled craft, an easy summer craft, or a rainbow craft. I love pairing this craft with this Froot Loop rainbow snack because I love creating themed snack to accompany our crafts. Kids can paint the rainbow on the cardboard and make their Froot Loop snack while it dries.

What You’ll Need To Make This Rainbow Streamer Craft
How To Make This Rainbow Streamer Craft
1. Cut the Rainbow Shape
Draw a large rainbow arch on your cardboard and cut it out. Make it big enough to hold comfortably and show off all those colors.

2. Paint the Rainbow
Start with red along the outer edge. Then paint each stripe inward in this order: orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. Let it dry completely.

3. Add Slits for Streamers
Carefully cut small slits along the bottom edge of the rainbow.

4. Attach the Streamers
Cut long strips of crepe paper or streamers. Match each color to its stripe on the rainbow and slide or tie them through the slits. Secure with glue or tape if needed.

5. Fluff and Flow
Gently pull and separate the streamers so they hang loosely and flow freely.
Notes and Variations

Let the paint dry. Ensure the paint is fully dry before cutting the slit and adding the streamers.
Experiment with shapes. Don’t want to make a rainbow? You can cut and decorate the cardboard in any way. Create a dinosaur or a flower – just make sure you have the matching colored streamers for it!
Add glitter. Glitter makes everything better (even though it’s a parent’s worst nightmare). My kids love glitter, so I always let them use it, even if I have to clean up glitter for weeks. Add some glitter to the cardboard rainbow to make it pop!
