How To Make Chocolate Covered Apple Chips

Start by melting the red chocolate candy melts. Put the candy melts in a microwave safe bowl, place it in the microwave and warm it in 30 second increments until it is completely melted.

Dip the potato chips completely in the red melted chocolate, use a fork or clean/ gloved hands to take the chips out of the bowl. Shake off any excess chocolate. Then place it on parchment paper to solidify for about 5-7 minutes.

Next dip the pretzel sticks in the melted red chocolate about 3/4 (3 quarters) of the way. Then turn the solid chocolate covered chips over and place the wet dipped pretzel sticks on the back of the chips. This will be the stem of the apple. Leave them to dry for about 5 minutes.

Melt the green chocolate candy melts following the same directions as above. Put the chocolate into a piping bag and cut a small hole on the tip of the bag.

Turn the chips over to face the front and pipe a small leaf on one side of the chip, at the top next to the stem. To create the leaf, pipe an upside down tear drop. Allow the leaves to dry for about 3 minutes.

These chocolate covered chip apples can be stored in a cool dry place for 3 days. They can be placed in the fridge for 5 days.

I only used Whole chips to create the apples. You can use broken chips if you like, but they might not have an apple shape to them.

If the chips are taking a while to solidify or you can’t wait to eat them all, you can place them in the fridge for few minutes.
