What You’ll Need To Make This Recycled Craft

  • Cardboard egg carton (18 egg carton works best, but any cardboard egg carton will work)
  • Red, white, and blue paint
  • Paintbrushes (+ one small paintbrush)

How To Make An Egg Carton American Flag

Turn the cardboard egg carton upside down on a covered surface. The bottom will be painted to look like the American flag. In the top left corner, paint a blue square section for the flag background. Paint four squares blue on an 18 egg carton. If you’re using a 12 egg carton you can paint the top two squares blue.

Paint the sides of the remaining of the cups red to create the stripes. Leaves the tops unpainted – these will be white to create the stripe effect.

Once the blue paint is dry, add small white stars using a small brush.

    You can use masking tape to tape off the egg carton when painting. This allows kids to paint the cups without getting paint on the other sections.

    Materials
