Hermit crabs are fascinating creatures. They eat d Hermit crabs are fascinating creatures. They eat dead fish, rotting seaweed, turtle eggs, and poop. Yes, poop. 💩

Hermit crabs wear shells to protect their abdomens and they frequently outgrow them. They’ll use shells from whelks, sea snails and other shellfish to protect themselves. Sometimes hermit crabs fight each other for a shell.

It was so fun to learn about how hermit crabs find new shells. 🐚 It’s a great science book to add to your units on animals, predators, or hermit crabs! The “Home Sweet Amazing Home” series has some wondering books that kids will enjoy! I just shared “Weaver Bird’s Town” the other day, so scroll back to check out that one, too!

Many thanks to @pubspotlight for sending me a copy of the book!

What did you want to be when you grew up? For Vo, What did you want to be when you grew up?

For Vo, she wants to be a chair. She’s a thinker . She loves to think about the world and how it’s made. She’s also a creator and loves to rebuild broken toys into new ones. But, with Vo’s new baby sister, she begins to feel lonely. Mom is busy with the new baby and Dad is busy with work.

Vo decides she doesn’t want to be busy like the grown-ups who grumble about their jobs. She wants to think and create. Vo wants to be a chair, but no one understands her dream.

What others don’t realize is WHY Vo wants to be a chair. Chairs are soft and cushy and wrap you up when you need it the most. Chairs are everywhere. And most of all, chairs are reliable. After a hard crash, Vo realizes that she doesn’t want to be a chair. She may need to use a chair, but the chair isn’t who she is.

“Vo isn’t a chair. She is so much more.”

You all NEED this book!!! It has such a beautiful message! Vo learns that her chair doesn’t make her different- it makes her brave! She is not her chair - it doesn’t define her. She’s creative, and smart, and a thinker! It’s beautiful to see an inclusive book that all kids can enjoy and learn from. It promotes accessibility and empowers kids. Plus, the illustrations are amazing! Grab this one to add to your collection!

Many thanks to @pubspotlight for sending me a copy of a book!

Finn is an orca, but not just any regular orca. He Finn is an orca, but not just any regular orca. He swims in a heated pool. He’s light as air. He’s… a pool toy!

After days of being jumped on, kicked, and dived over, Finn begins to wonder what is on the other side of the fence. One night the wind blows him over the fence and takes him on a grand adventure.

Finn sees a plane, a rainbow, and even ends up in the ocean! But Fin couldn’t keep up with the other swimmers. He washes up on the beach and is played with, but it’s not the same as before. Meanwhile, the kids hang up missing posters for Finn. Can Finn ever find a way home?

This is such a fun story that is loosely based on a true story. It’s a beautiful message about finding your way home (and that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence.) This fun summer adventure releases on May 12th, perfect for a last day of school read aloud!

The weaver birds of Africa are busy, busy, busy! T The weaver birds of Africa are busy, busy, busy! They are collecting stems of straw for their giant bird town.

Weaver birds build bird towns in trees, but have also been known to build them on electrical towers. The roof is made of twigs to help keep it shaded and warm during cold nights. But, weaver birds aren’t the only ones living in this giant bird town- Rosy-faced lovebirds and South African pygmy falcons also live here. The falcons keep predators like snakes away from the nest.

I never even knew weaver birds existed! The home that they build is incredible! I’m always fascinated that animals like these birds know exactly how to build a home that will keep them safe. It’s an instinctual trait that they are born with.

Weaver Bird’s Town is a fascinating book that is perfect for science lessons on animals and habitats. I love all the Ruby Tuesday books because they always present information is an engaging and kid-friendly way, so I know kids will love them!

My Butterfly Secret is a beautiful story of protec My Butterfly Secret is a beautiful story of protecting endangered species.

Did you know there is a butterfly trade and people will pay thousands of dollars for them? Just two years ago the global butterfly trade was $200 million per year. And not everyone cares about the laws that protect endangered species. They will do whatever it takes the get rare species.

My Butterfly Secret follows a young boy whose father shows him a secret but special place filled with butterflies. It’s the place the boy goes when his father leaves for a job far away and his heart needs quiet. He begins picking up broken butterfly wings and when a man sees them, he buys them all. Soon others find the secret place and they catch all the butterflies. The boy and his mother work hard to find a way to save the butterflies and create a new special place for them 🦋

I loved this book so much!! I had no idea people caught and sold butterflies, but I love how the message of this book is to protect Mother Earth and her creatures. It shows kids that when they are determined, they can accomplish anything.

Many thanks to @pubspotlight for sending me a copy of the book! 🦋
