Every week Hiro’s dad makes ramen, a recipe passed Every week Hiro’s dad makes ramen, a recipe passed down from his father. Hiro watches his dad, trying to learn how to make his own ramen. When Hiro turns seven, he knows it time. He is going to make the perfect ramen🍜

Unfortunately, his ramen doesn’t quite turn out the way he thought. The broth isn’t right, the noodles are mushy, and the pork falls apart. Hiro thinks he ruined dinner and throws it in the trash. It isn’t until his dad tells him that ramen doesn’t have to be perfect to be special.

This is such a beautiful story that not only depicts perseverance but also shatters the illusion that things have to be perfect. And, just because Hiro’s ramen looks different than his dad’s, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a delicious bowl of noodles. Hiro learns to make his own special versions to fit each of his family member’s tastes.

It’s the perfect book for perfectionists, ramen lovers, and anyone who gets frustrated when things don’t turn out the way they intended.

Many thanks to @simonkids for sending me a copy of the book🩵🍜

Learn how to say the names of animals in English, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Esperanto!

The collages are so cute and creative, I know kids will just love them! This is a great book for parents who want their kids to learn more than one language. I never even knew about Esperanto, and it was nice to learn what it is and who speaks it! I’m also learning Chinese, so this book was a fun way to learn new words!

Outside Mom, Inside Mom is a lyrical book that cel Outside Mom, Inside Mom is a lyrical book that celebrates safe communities where everyone can be themselves!

On the first day at his new school, instead of choosing his favorite red shoes, a boy chooses a pair that will help him fit in. He tells his mom to wear her favorite sparkly shirt, but she refuses. Inside mom loves her sparkly shirt, but outside mom wants to look like the mom of a hardworking student. Outside mom is quiet and doesn’t ask questions. Inside mom is loud and asks ALL the questions.

In his new school, the boy becomes quiet, which is unlike him. Like his mom, he’s developing an outside version of himself. His mom tells him he will feel more like himself when he makes friends and feels safe.

This is such a beautiful story that shows we all have different sides to us! When we don’t feel comfortable we become a different “outside” version of ourselves. We need a safe environment where we can be free to be ourselves, just like we can be inside our own homes.

Many thanks to @simonkids for sending me a copy of the book! 🏠
