Sulwe was one of the first picture books in my col Sulwe was one of the first picture books in my collection and I still love it years later!

Sulwe is the color of midnight. She is darker than her family and classmates. She wants to be beautiful and bright like her mom and sister, so she tries to eat only the lightest foods, applies light colored makeup, and even tries to erase the color on her skin.

At night, a shooting star appears and tells Sulwe about Day and Night. Day and Night are sisters, but people didn’t treat them the same. They all preferred Day, saying that Bight was scary and ugly. It wasn’t until Night went away that the people realized they missed her. Night returns and the people rejoiced! Day shows her that when she is the darkest is when she is the most beautiful.

Sulwe is such a beautiful book for all kids. It shows them that we need dark and light, because together they make our world strong and beautiful. It truly is an amazing book to help kids love themselves exactly the way they are 🩷

Many thanks to @simonkids for sending me a copy of the book🩷

Don’t Do It, Doug will definitely be a new favorit Don’t Do It, Doug will definitely be a new favorite in your classroom!

Doug has a taste for trouble. He has absolutely no self control. He shakes fizzy sodas, pressed big red buttons, and touches everything.

Doug finds a new way to stay busy - he does things that have all the thrills, with none of the spills, like skydiving and riding rollercoasters. Doug is like a brand new hamster - nothing can tempt him now, can it?

This hilarious picture book will be a hit with kids! My class always loved books like this, where characters do allll the things they shouldn’t because it makes for a good laugh! I hope Doug has more adventures in the future that are just as hilarious!

Many thanks to @tigertalesbooks @pubspotlight for sending me a copy of the book!

Across the ocean was a village, one that had to ti Across the ocean was a village, one that had to tip toe and whisper so they didn’t upset Lion, Lord of the land. Any noise besides his own voice made him furious.

There was a girl named Nani who lived in the village. Nani loved to drum, echoing the hum of life. The people couldn’t help but dance when Nani tapped her drum, until someone would tell them to be quiet. Nani tried going to the farthest end of the village to drum, but the farmers there were also scared of the Lion. When Nani went into the forest outside of the village to drum, she angered the lion. Nani and the villagers ran and ran , but they knew they couldn’t outrun Lion. Nani came up with a plan, one that blended her beautiful music with nature.

This rhythmic book beautifully depicts the power of music. Even though Nani is afraid of Lion, she is called to the music of her drum and won’t give it up. She stands up to Lion and brings joy and happiness back to her community.

Many thanks to @simonkids for sending me a copy of the book🦁
