Make a K is for Kite letter K craft with construction paper. This kite craft for kids builds fine motor skills and supports preschool alphabet learning.
● Construction paper (one color for the letter K)
● Construction paper in a different color for the kite
● White construction paper for clouds
● Child-safe scissors
● Glue stick or school glue
● Black marker
Draw a large uppercase letter K on construction paper. The letter should be bold and wide enough to support decorations. Carefully cut out the letter.
The large vertical line and angled arms provide natural placement for the kite and clouds later in the activity.
2. Create the Kite ShapeOn a contrasting piece of construction paper, draw a traditional diamond-shaped kite. Cut it out carefully.
The kite should be small enough to fit near the top of the letter K but large enough to stand out visually.
3. Cut Out the CloudsDraw two or three fluffy cloud shapes on white construction paper. Simple rounded bumps create an easy cloud silhouette. Cut out the clouds.
Clouds add dimension and reinforce the sky theme of the kite craft.
4. Assemble the SceneGlue the kite toward the top of the letter K. Positioning it near the upper diagonal line makes it look like it’s high in the sky.
Next, glue the white clouds onto different sections of the letter K. Random placement makes them more effective.
Allow the glue to dry briefly before moving on.
5. Draw the Kite StringUsing a black marker, draw a swirling line from the bottom of the kite down toward the base of the letter K. A wavy or looping motion creates the look of a kite string moving through the wind.
This final detail ties the entire scene together and reinforces writing control skills.
