These celery bug snacks are the most fun and healthy after school snack for kids! Easy to make and perfect for a (cute) creepy crawly snack time activity.
15 celery hearts
1/2 cup peanut butter
4 ounces cream cheese
2 cups grapes
1 cup blueberries
1 1/2 cups grape tomatoes
2 apples
Lime juice for the apples
1/2 cup pretzel twists
1/4 cup eye candies, optional
Slice your apples and place into a bowl of lime juice to prevent browning.
Fill the celery hearts with peanut butter for the fruits or cream cheese for the tomatoes.
Decorate each celery piece with a different bug- use grapes or blueberries for caterpillars, pretzel twists for butterflies, and sliced apples for snails. For the cream cheese celery, add tomatoes to make caterpillars.
Add candy eyes for decoration, optional.
To keep your celery bugs from falling over, assemble them in the same place you plan to serve, they fall over easily when moved. You can use a toothpick on each side to help stabilize. You can also trim a thin slice off of the rounded bottom of each celery stalk.
