Turn a yellow handprint into a spotted jaguar! It’s a creative animal craft for kids that is great for teaching about the letter J and jaguars.

Materials

     White paper or spiral notebook

     Yellow paint

     Black marker

     Paintbrush or sponge brush

Paper towel or wipes for cleanup

Instructions

Step 1: Paint the Hand

Cover the palm and fingers with yellow paint. Make sure the paint is spread evenly across the hand.

Step 2: Create the Handprint

Press the painted hand onto a sheet of white paper with the fingers pointing downward. The fingers are the jaguar’s legs, and the thumb is the tail.

Carefully lift the hand straight up to avoid smearing.

Step 3: Let the Paint Dry

Allow the handprint to dry completely before adding details.

Step 4: Paint the Head

Using yellow paint, add a round head beside the handprint body. Paint two small ears at the top of the head and let the paint dry.

Step 5: Draw the Face Details

Use a black marker to draw the jaguar’s eyes, nose, mouth, and whiskers.

Step 6: Draw the Spots

Use the marker to draw spots across the body, legs, and tail to create the jaguar’s distinctive coat pattern.

Step 7: Write the Letter J

Add the phrase “J is for Jaguar” above the artwork. This reinforces letter recognition and connects the animal to the alphabet craft for kids.
