Paint a melting scoop with an upside-down handprint in this I Is for Ice Cream craft. It’s a creative letter I activity for preschool and kindergarten.
● White cardstock or construction paper
● Paint (red, pink, brown, white, or any ice cream color)
● Paintbrush
● Black marker
● Brown marker
● Red marker
● Green marker
Using a brown marker, draw a large triangle near the center of the paper to create an ice cream cone. Add diagonal lines across the cone for a waffle cone pattern if desired.
Step 2: Paint the HandChoose a paint color that resembles a favorite ice cream flavor. Pink, red, chocolate brown, vanilla cream, or mint green all work well.
Cover the palm and fingers with paint using a paintbrush.
Step 3: Stamp the HandprintTurn the hand upside down and press it above the cone.
The palm forms the scoop of ice cream while the fingers resemble melting ice cream dripping down the cone. Carefully lift the hand to reveal the print.
Allow the paint to dry completely.
Step 4: Add a CherryUse a red marker to draw a cherry on top of the I is for Ice Cream handprint. Add a curved green stem extending upward from the cherry.
Step 5: Write the Letter PhraseAt the top of the paper, write: I is for Ice Cream
The finished project creates a memorable visual connection between the letter I and the word ice cream.
