● White paper or a spiral notebook page
● Red paint
● Orange paint
● Yellow paint
● Paintbrush or sponge for applying paint
● Brown marker
● Black marker
● Paper towels or wipes for cleanup
1. Prepare the paint
Place small amounts of red, orange, and yellow paint onto a palette or paper plate.
2. Paint the hand
Use a brush or sponge to cover the child’s palm and fingers. Red covers the base of the palm, orange in the middle, and yellow toward the fingertips. The gradient mimics the look of rising flames.
3. Stamp the handprint
Press the painted hand firmly onto the paper. Hold for a moment, then lift straight up to keep the shape clear. The fingers form the top of the flame, stretching upward like flickering fire.
4. Let it dry
Allow the paint to dry fully before adding details. This step prevents smudging and keeps the colors vibrant.
5. Draw the logs
Use a brown marker to draw two simple logs crossing beneath the handprint. If desired, a few short lines will add a rough bark texture.
6. Add the title
Write “C is for Campfire” at the top using a black marker. Bold, clear letters reinforce letter recognition and connect the image to the alphabet.
