Materials

     Toilet paper roll

     Red and green paint

     Paintbrush

     Black marker

Red and green streamers (or crepe paper)

     Scissors

     Glue

     Tape

     String

Instructions

1.   Paint the rind
Start by painting a green strip around the bottom of the toilet paper roll. This will be the watermelon rind.

2.   Add the juicy center
Paint the rest of the roll red. Let everything dry completely before moving on.

3.   Draw the seeds
Use a black marker to add little oval “seeds” all around the red section.

4.   Cut the streamers
Cut long strips of red and green streamers. These will flutter in the breeze.

5.   Attach the streamers
Glue the streamers to the inside bottom edge of the toilet paper roll. Mix the colors for a bright, playful look.

6.   Add the hanger
Tape a piece of string to the top of the roll so it can hang.
