Keep kids busy at the beach with this fun racetrack activity! All you need is sand and a little creativity for hours of imaginative outdoor play.

Materials

     Toy cars

     Plastic racetrack pieces

     Buckets and shovels

Instructions

1.   Start by digging a large hole in the sand and filling it with a little water to create a splash pit or “mud puddle.”

2.   Stretch the racetrack from the starting point to the puddle.

3.   Pile sand under sections of the track to create hills, bridges, jumps, and steep drops. Pack the sand tightly so the track stays in place.

4.   Add extra tunnels, bumps, or side roads using more sand and track pieces.

5.   Place a toy car at the top and let it race down the track toward the puddle. Experiment with different heights and track designs to see which cars go the fastest.
