This letter H craft helps preschoolers build letter recognition, phonics skills, and fine motor development through a hands-on alphabet activity.
● Red construction paper (or color of choice for the letter H)
● Yellow construction paper
● Brown construction paper
● Scissors
● Glue stick or school glue
● Black marker or crayon
Draw a large uppercase H on red construction paper. The letter should be big enough to fill most of a standard sheet. Carefully cut out the letter.
Encourage children to observe the straight lines that form the H. Discuss how just those three lines create the entire letter.
Step 2: Create the WindowsCut 3–4 small squares from yellow construction paper. These will serve as the house windows.
Using a black marker, draw a plus shape across each square to create windowpanes. This small detail strengthens fine motor control and hand stability.
Step 3: Cut the RoofFrom brown construction paper, cut out a triangle large enough to sit across the top of the letter H. The triangle forms the roof of the house.
Step 4: Assemble the HouseGlue the yellow windows onto the letter H. Space them evenly across the letter, or space them out randomly.
Glue the brown triangle at the top of the H so it rests across both vertical lines. The triangle forms the roof, giving it a recognizable house shape.
Allow the construction paper craft to dry completely before displaying. And that’s it; the H is for House paper craft is finished.
