This layers of the Earth pudding cup is a fun and unique way to learn about the Earth! It’s perfect for Earth Day but can be used at any time during the year!
● Instant vanilla pudding mix
● Instant chocolate pudding mix
● Milk (as called for on pudding packages)
● Red and orange food coloring
● Mini marshmallows
● Oreo cookies (crushed)
● Green edible grass (or green candy strips)
1. Prepare the pudding
Make the vanilla pudding and chocolate pudding separately according to the package directions. Let them set slightly so they’re easy to layer.
2. Color the vanilla layers
Divide the vanilla pudding into 3 bowls:
○ Leave one plain (this will be your yellow layer)
○ Dye one bowl orange
○ Dye one bowl red
○ Stir each until the color is smooth and even.
3. Start with the “inner core”
Add a layer of mini marshmallows to the bottom of each clear cup.
4. Add the pudding layers
Carefully spoon in each layer in this order:
○ Plain vanilla pudding (yellow layer)
○ Orange pudding
○ Red pudding
○ Chocolate pudding
Try to spread each layer gently so they stay nicely stacked and visible from the side.
5. Create the “Earth’s surface”
Sprinkle crushed Oreos on top of the chocolate pudding to look like soil.
6. Finish with grass
Add a handful of green edible grass on top for a grassy surface.
