How To Make A Dinosaur Lunch Idea for Kids

Recipe by stacie

Turn lunch into a prehistoric scene with dinosaur-shaped sandwiches, broccoli trees, pretzel fossils, and grape dino eggs packed into a fun kids lunch box.

  • Total Time15

Ingredients

  • Sandwich bread (white, wheat, or preferred choice)
  • Peanut butter and jelly (or alternative filling such as turkey and cheese)
  • Dinosaur-shaped cookie cutter
  • Fresh broccoli florets
  • Green grapes (washed and dried)
  • Pretzel sticks
  • Lunch container with compartments
  • Small knife or spoon for spreading

Optional additions:

  • Small reusable food picks
  • Mini silicone cups for separating items
  • A small toy dinosaur for a surprise element

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dinosaur Sandwiches

Spread peanut butter on one slice of bread and jelly on another. Press the slices together gently. Place the dinosaur cookie cutter on the sandwich and press down firmly to create the shape. Remove excess crust and lift the dinosaur-shaped sandwich into the lunch box. Repeat the process for multiple sandwiches if desired.

2. Create the Broccoli “Trees”

Rinse broccoli florets thoroughly. Trim into bite-sized pieces if needed. Arrange them in a cluster to resemble a tiny forest.

3. Add the “Dino Eggs”

Place a small handful of green grapes with the broccoli trees or in their own section. Keeping them grouped together enhances the illusion of eggs resting in a nest.

4. Scatter the Pretzel “Fossils”

Add pretzel sticks in another compartment.

5. Assemble the Scene

Arrange the dinosaur sandwiches in the largest section of the lunch box. The layout resembles a miniature dinosaur habitat.
